My goal as a psychiatrist is to help young people develop into their best selves and help them achieve their potential in all aspects of life- be it personal, academic or professional.
In addition to the emergence of psychiatric disorders during these years, young people are facing unprecedented stress in these modern times in both their personal and academic/work lives.
I primarily focus on working with young people ages 13- 30 and their families.
I utilize evidence-based therapies that help develop problem solving skills, emotional regulation, and decision making abilities.
These skills help young people blossom and thrive in their academics, work, have fulfilling relationships, and improve overall productivity.
What is my Treatment Approach?
I start with a comprehensive evaluation of your overall health that includes physical, mental, social, family, academic and professional areas. We then discuss the problem areas and develop a collaborative treatment plan with your input.
I believe in the judicious use of prescription medications as indicated along with holistic approaches such as yoga, mindfulness, meditation and modifying lifestyle factors such as sleep, diet and exercise. Therapy is often an integral part of treatment and I utilize CBT- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, IPT is Interpersonal Therapy and DBT is Dialectical Behavior Therapy based strategies depending on the problems, beliefs and symptoms that need to be addressed.
I believe that providing care with empathy and respect to the patient is an important factor leading to improvement in symptoms and an improved overall quality of life.
